Jehron Petty (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Today mobile application (“Today” or the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

By using Today, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Display name, email address (optional depending on sign-in method), and bio.
  • Profile Picture: If you choose to upload an avatar from your photo library.
  • User Content: Posts (text and optional images), comments, and emoji reactions you create within the App.
  • Friend Connections: Friend requests you send or accept, and your unique friend code.
  • Reports and Blocks: If you report content or block a user, we store the report details and block relationship.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Token: If you enable push notifications, we store your device token to deliver notifications via Apple Push Notification Service (APNs).
  • Authentication Data: Depending on your sign-in method, we receive limited profile information from Google or Apple (see Third-Party Services below).
  • Usage Data: We collect anonymous analytics events to understand how the App is used, such as when a post or comment is created. These events are tied to your user ID but do not include message content, location, or device identifiers. See PostHog under Third-Party Services below.

  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Contact list or address book data
  • Browsing history
  • Health, fitness, or financial data

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

  • Provide the Service: Display your profile, posts, and comments to your friends; manage friend connections; deliver emoji reactions.
  • Send Notifications: Notify you of friend requests, friend request acceptances, new posts from friends, comments on your posts, and replies to your comments (based on your notification preferences).
  • Moderate Content: Review reported content and enforce our Terms of Service, including removing content that violates our policies.
  • Maintain Your Account: Enable you to update your profile, manage notification preferences, refresh your friend code, and delete your account.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating and improving the App.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

Supabase

Our backend infrastructure is hosted on Supabase. Supabase stores your account data, posts, comments, reactions, friendships, notifications, and uploaded images (profile pictures and post images). Data is protected with Row-Level Security (RLS) policies that restrict access based on friend relationships and ownership.

Google Sign-In

If you sign in with Google, we receive your display name, email address, and profile picture URL from Google. We do not access any other Google account data.

Apple Sign-In

If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (only on first sign-in). Apple may provide a private relay email address if you choose to hide your email. We do not access any other Apple account data.

PostHog

We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how the App is used and to improve the experience. PostHog receives anonymous event data (e.g., “a post was created”) tied to your user ID. It does not receive the content of your posts, comments, or messages, your location, or device advertising identifiers.

Apple Push Notification Service (APNs)

We use APNs to deliver push notifications to your device. Your device token is stored securely and used only for delivering notifications you have opted into.

Data Storage and Security

  • All data is stored on Supabase cloud servers.
  • Database access is protected by Row-Level Security (RLS) policies, ensuring users can only access their own data and content shared by their friends.
  • Uploaded images (avatars and post images) are stored in Supabase Storage with access policies.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Your Rights and Controls

Notification Preferences

You can control which notifications you receive in the App’s settings, including notifications for new posts from friends, friend requests, friend request acceptances, comments on your posts, and replies to your comments.

Friend Code

You can refresh your friend code at any time from your profile, which invalidates the previous code.

Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from the App’s settings. Deleting your account removes:

  • Your profile information (display name, bio, email)
  • Your profile picture
  • All your posts and post images
  • All your comments and reactions
  • Your friendships and friend requests
  • Your notifications and device tokens
  • Your reports and block relationships

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Data is removed from our servers immediately upon deletion.

Children’s Privacy

Today is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete that information. If you believe a child under 13 is using the App, please contact us at contact@builtbyjayo.com.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
  • Delete your personal information (available via in-app account deletion).
  • Non-Discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers. We do not retain copies of deleted data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
